Founding Philosophy

The founding philosophy and reasons behind the establishment of the College of Commerce and Economics are as follows:

Our institution, Taiwan's first commercial school founded in 1917, has upheld a steadfast commitment to commerce education for over a century. Originally known as Taipei Commercial Vocational School, it evolved through Taipei Commercial High School, Taipei College of Commerce, and Taipei Commercial Technical College, consistently leading Taiwan's vocational education in commerce.

In response to evolving societal and educational landscapes, and to meet the aspirations of students seeking a comprehensive business education aligned with economic demands, our college pursues a vision to be renamed National Taipei University of Commerce. This transformation aims to foster business elites and serve as a catalyst for commercial advancement.

Our development vision emphasizes excellence in education with professional competence, global perspectives, and social responsibility. We aim to cultivate students' core competencies in practical skills, creativity, language proficiency, multicultural understanding, humanities, and community engagement.

Formally established in 2014 after preparations began in 2012, our college has rapidly expanded its organizational structure, implemented robust regulations, integrated interdisciplinary initiatives, and developed unique professional programs. Today, we offer doctoral programs, master's programs in Accounting Information, Finance, Fiscal Taxation, International Business, and a Trade Law and Negotiation Master's Program (conducted in English), along with an Executive Master's Program in International Business Innovation and Management offered overseas.

Throughout our history, our departments have been students' preferred choice, known for integrating business expertise with practical applications, embracing technological advancements, fostering innovative teaching practices, promoting leadership education, and nurturing international perspectives and mobility.

As we face globalization, demographic shifts, heightened competition, and the digital economy era, our college remains dedicated to enhancing teaching innovation, maintaining high academic standards, and optimizing learning environments. We are committed to strengthening partnerships with industry, advancing practical research, supporting industrial innovation, and enhancing internationalization efforts.

Looking ahead, we are actively preparing for AACSB accreditation to further elevate educational quality and global recognition. Our goal is to continue evolving towards a future characterized by professionalism, practicality, digitalization, innovation, ethical leadership, and global engagement, ensuring sustained excellence in education and beyond.
